Doctrine Is the Life of the Church
Doctrine is essential to the life of the church because it flows directly from God’s Word. To despise doctrine is to despise His voice; to love it is to honor Him. Scripture equips believers for every good work (2 Tim. 3:16–17). As Calvin said, doctrine is for life, not speculation (Institutes 3.6.4). Without truth, the church loses her witness; with it, she flourishes in holiness and mission.

Day 10: The Folly of “No Creed but Christ”
The phrase “No creed but Christ” sounds humble but is actually dangerous. Jude 3 commands us to contend for the faith once delivered to the saints—a body of truth, not vague feelings. Creeds and confessions summarize doctrine and protect the church from error. Calvin warned that despising doctrine is despising Christ’s teaching. To reject creeds is not to honor Christ but to invite confusion.
