God’s Eternal Reality as the Source of All Life

God Exists Beyond the Boundaries of Time
Time is one of God’s creations. Genesis 1:1 records the beginning of all things: “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” Before that moment, only God existed. Unlike creatures who are bound by beginnings and endings, God is timeless—“the eternal God is a dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms” (Deut. 33:27). His name revealed to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM” (Exod. 3:14), declares His timeless being. He is not aging, developing, or decaying. All of history unfolds within His sovereign decree, but He Himself transcends it completely.
God’s Eternity as the Ground of His Faithfulness
Because God is eternal, His purposes never fail. What He decrees in eternity past comes to pass without fail in time (Isa. 46:10). This truth anchors the believer’s hope. Psalm 102:27 affirms, “You are the same, and Your years will not come to an end.” Unlike human beings who change with every season, God remains constant, His promises unshakable. When Jesus declared, “Before Abraham was born, I am” (John 8:58), He testified not only to His divine nature but to the eternal reality of God. Believers can trust Him because His purposes are as unchanging as His being.
God’s Eternal Life Shared with His People
God’s eternity is not distant theology; it is the source of our life. The eternal Father gives eternal life to His children through His Son (John 17:3). Paul reminds us that God “alone has immortality” (1 Tim. 6:16), and yet He shares that life with those who believe. This means death cannot sever the believer from the One who always is. Eternal life is not simply unending existence but knowing the eternal God in covenant fellowship. As the Alpha and the Omega (Rev. 1:8), God encompasses the beginning and end, assuring His people that their lives are secure in His unchanging hands.
